Q: Why are some state Constitution Party names different? Print E-mail

A:  Most state parties changed their names to “Constitution Party,” since a coalition of states that formed the U.S. Taxpayer Party became the Constitution Party in 1999.

A handful of states were unable to change their state-registered names because of individual state restrictions:

  • The American Independent Party (California)
  • Concerned Citizens Party (Connecticut)
  • Independent American Party (Nevada)
  • U.S. Taxpayers Party (Michigan).
